The difference between silicon carbide material and corundum mullite material
The main differences between silicon carbide materials and corundum mullite materials are the maximum temperature resistance, corrosion resistance, and wear resistance. Corundum-mullite refers to a high-alumina refractory product composed of corundum and mullite main crystal phases. Corundum-mullite bricks refer to refractory products made of high-purity or relatively pure raw materials. The presence of low-melting-point oxide impurities will reduce its high-temperature performance. Pure mullite raw materials synthesized from industrial alumina powder and pure clay, bauxite or silica are used, and the content of alkali metal oxides should be as low as possible. Products made from mullite aggregate have good thermal shock resistance, but slightly poor erosion resistance. Products made from corundum sand as aggregate have good corrosion resistance, but slightly poor thermal shock resistance. How to Choose the kind of SIC product?
The easiest way to choose a silicon carbide product is to judge it based on the actual use temperature. The temperature tolerance of recrystallized silicon carbide product is the highest, which can reach 1650°. The maximum use temperature of silicon nitride combined with silicon carbide product is 1420°, and the maximum use temperature of reaction sintered silicon carbide product is 1380°.
