The 2024 Liaoning·Shenyang "Frontier Technology of New Silicon Carbide Materials" Exchange Conference, a landmark event for the advanced materials industry, successfully convened on September 21st at the Shenyang International Conference Center. Jointly organized by Shenyang Starlight Advanced Ceramics Co., Ltd. and the Materials Branch of the Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society, the conference attracted over 300 participants, including leading scientists, engineers, corporate executives, and policymakers, to explore innovations and collaborative opportunities in silicon carbide materials.
A Nexus for Industry-Academia Collaboration
As a strategic platform bridging research and commercialization, the event featured keynote speeches, technical workshops, and exhibitions showcasing cutting-edge SiC applications. Dr. Li Wei, Chairman of Shenyang Starlight Advanced Ceramics, emphasized in his opening remarks that "silicon carbide is no longer a niche material—it’s the backbone of next-generation industries, from electric vehicles to renewable energy systems. This conference marks a critical step in aligning China’s R&D capabilities with global market demands."
The agenda highlighted three focal areas: High-purity SiC crystal growth techniques, Cost-effective mass production solutions, and Emerging applications in extreme environments. Notably, Professor Zhang Qiang from Tsinghua University unveiled a breakthrough in reducing SiC wafer defect density by 40% using a novel epitaxial growth method, a development poised to enhance power semiconductor reliability.
At this conference, we reached strategic cooperation with many institutions.
For example, our company signed a contract with Xinmin Municipal Government for the production of semiconductor silicon carbide structural parts.
We signed a cooperation agreement with South Korea on the introduction and development of CVD coating and semiconductor parts manufacturing technology.
Our company also successfully signed a contract for the Liaoning Province New Energy Project.
At the same time, we have also successfully purchased chemical vapor deposition equipment. The successful signing of this project also means that we will soon be able to form a closed loop of the entire industrial chain.
I believe that with the successful signing of these projects, our development will be faster and more comprehensive, not only forming a closed-loop operation of the entire industrial chain of silicon carbide products, but also giving us more confidence to provide our customers with better and higher-quality silicon carbide products.
